Hurtig Publishers, James Marsh Editor in Chief, First published in 1985 to critical acclaim, The Canadian Encyclopedia was the most successful nonfiction publication in Canadian history, selling some 150,000 sets in its first edition and a further 100,000 in its second edition in 1988. The encyclopedia comprised 10,000 articles written by over 3000 contributors from across Canada.
